Denali came from a rescue group foster program. She was dropped off one late Saturday night and the foster or rescue group never called to take her back. So we have probably the most mellow and sweetest dog there is. She loves attention and when someone goes to pet her, she just drops to the ground and lays there. She came to us with heartworm and has a few issues that require constant care. One is dry eye; her eyes produce no tears so she requires eye drops 3 times a day to keep them hydrated. Another issue is a chronic skin problem. Poor Denali is constantly itching. She is on medication and requires baths a couple of times a week with medicated shampoo.
Given the state of her teeth and skin condition, we think she was used as a breeding dog. She just had a litter of puppies shortly before she was dropped off with us. Around feeding time, Denali has a funny habit of doing a little run, rolling on her back and doing the “worm.” After that, she jumps up and down on her front legs (like one of those souped up cars bouncing up and down) and then lets out a little cartoon-like bark. Hers is a very unique bark. After dinner, she is quick to fall asleep and then the snoring begins!
